Apuan Alps

The Apuan Alps are set apart from the nearby Apennines thanks to their very dramatic morphology, with their deep valleys and steep, imposing slopes. The Apuan Alps are known for the beauty of their marbles and for the deep canyons of the karst subsoil.

The geographical position of the massif, its exposure and the different nature of the rocks determine the presence of extremely varied and contrasting ecosystems, which favor the diversity of the area in terms of plants and wildlife.
